A short walk from the lodge leads way to the blue holes.

• Secluded setting with miles of beach

Fishing

Mount Pleasant Lodge works with a number of the island’s top guides who use 16-18ft skiffs with 75-115 horsepower engines. All boats are equipped with poling platforms, rod storage, radios, life jackets, first aid kits and spacious casting platforms. Mount Peasant is conveniently located two miles from the entrance to the famous flats of North Bite. North Bite is a large water way opening the East shore to the uninhabited, fabled West side, stretching over 25 miles long. Within the North Bite lies hundreds of uninhabited keys and enough flats that they could not all be fished in a lifetime. Trips to the West side include about a one-hour run from the lodge, but are often worth it. The bight and west side hold amazing numbers of fish. The fish on the West side tend to be aggressive eaters with most fish never seeing a fly before. Fish from 2-20 lbs. live here, and opportunities for permit and for tarpon in 40-120 lbs. are found here. The West side is a once in a lifetime journey into a surreal setting with abundant fish and wildlife. The location of Mt. Pleasant offers easy access to Eastside ocean flats. These flats are endless, with large numbers of double-digit fish. Rumor is the next record bonefish is swimming around Andros. Anglers will find some of the finest bonefish in the world at White Bight, which is near the property, and home to miles of expansive shallow water flats and white sandy beaches.

Other Adventures

Here, you will have access to three of Andros' most famous blue holes—subterranean cave passages, which are the most extensive in the world. They are favorite spots for snorkeling, scuba diving, breath-taking jumps and social gatherings. Waters around the lodge are 1-4 feet deep at high tide and low tide leaves about 200 feet of tide pools and coral formation exposed for exploring out of water. The lodge property also has a tidal creek and with each new tide it runs like a river through mangroves for about one mile, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The creekside beach seems designed for sunbathing and relaxing. Only one mile from the lodge is the second largest coral reef in the world offering great diving and blue water fishing.

Accommodations

Mount Pleasant has 4 cottages that are 50 feet from the white sand and clear waters of the Atlantic. Two of the cottages consist of two bedrooms, one room has two queens while the other room has two twin beds, bath, living room, small kitchenette, front and back patios. The other two units are one room with two double beds, private bath and small refrigerator. All units have air conditioned bedrooms and ceiling fans. There is a fresh water hose for guests to wash equipment. The Main Lodge has a small bar, outside patio and the dining room where breakfast and dinner are served each day. The food is traditional Bahamian and American dishes and can be altered to suit any dietary restrictions.

Direct flights from Ft. Lauderdale to the Andros Town Airport are available through Continental Gulfstream on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Leave extra time for connecting flights on your return trip. Customs and immigration can delay you as much as an hour and a half.  For daily commercial flights, fly direct to Nassau and use service from Western Air to Andros Town Airport.  Call Castafly Travel at 877-311-8359 or e-mail us to arrange private charters to Andros Town.  Upon arrival on Andros, a Bonefish Club shuttle van will take you to the lodge.

As aircraft flying to Andros Town are often small twin-engine planes we recommended carring a maximum of 40 pounds of luggage, soft sided if possible. Rod case should be limited to 6 ½ feet long.
